Speaking about Bali, do you know that Bali has just topped the list as World's Most Popular Destination in TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards 2021? No doubt that Bali has always been on my bucket list and never enough to just visit once or twice. 

 

Another immediate YES I DO when my friends suggest travelling to Bali since my last trip was back in 2015. Yes, my dream came true for the second time and I had the opportunity to revisit this World's Most Popular City again.

In this entry, I will be sharing about my 3D2N staycation experience at ARTOTEL Sanur Bali. This hotel is strategically located at Sanur, a seaside town on the southeast of the island within the vicinity of Denpasar, Bali. 

 

This boutique hotel adopts kites as its main motive for the conceptual designs and this is inspired by the Sanur's famous annual Kite Festival that is held in July every year. On top of that, the hotel is also a canvas that showcases thought-provoking artworks by some of the most relevant Bali-based contemporary artists. 

 

Trust me, you will be amazed when I share more about it, so you must stay and continue to read till the end, okay?

The check-in process was pretty smooth where the attentive staff will assist with the whole check-in process, you just need to provide your ID/Passport as usual for documentation purposes. Oh yes, Welcoming Drink will be served while waiting for the whole process to be completed.

I took the opportunity to walk around the hotel's lobby while waiting for my room key at the ARTOTEL ARTSPACE, just around the main entrance of the hotel. This space serves as a contemporary gallery that displays original work and installations by talented local artists. 

 

According to the hotel's team, this designated area changes periodically to make way for dynamic exhibitions that ultimately become a melting pot and creative hub not only for the hotel guest but also for the local community. You will always have reasons to visit ARTOTEL Sanur Bali for the arts and staycation.

Alright, guys! My key is ready and it is time for us to explore the room that I stayed in for the next two (2) nights. This is the STUDIO 30 that comes in a room size of 30 sqm and I had the double bed on my own. The bed is so comfortable that I had a good deep sleep till the next morning. All thanks to the Exclusive ARTOTEL Bedding Collection, of course.

This artsy room is unique in its own way as every floor will have a different backdrop. As for my room on the 1st Floor (Level 2), this is the perfect touch done by Natisa Jones that is well-known for her figurative artwork. Other artists involved in making this boutique hotel so unique and artistic include Pintor Sirait, Valasara, Ines Katamso and Kemalezedine. 

 

Just sit back and relax on the sofa bed provided and be entertained with the channel available on the 49" LED TV. You can always stay connected with your family and friends while you are on vacation with the complimentary High-Speed Internet Wi-Fi provided.

While you are on the trip, you definitely want to have peace of mind exploring the city without the need to worry about your belongings as you can place them safely in the in-room safe box.

There is a minibar provided that you can make your own coffee or tea with the Dolce Gusto Coffee Maker and complimentary bottle drinks are provided too. Want to have a chill drink? No problem as there is a refrigerator in the room to keep your food and beverage chilled.

The room has its own attached bathroom with complete amenities provided with a standing rain shower, basic grooming kit and towels for all kinds of needs. I love the color choice of this bathroom that makes it so cozy and of course, the full-height mirror makes my grooming so enjoyable.

The room also comes with a balcony with a garden view. It is the perfect place to hang out while enjoying the view from the room. A clothes hanger is provided too at this corner, so you can hang your clothes to keep it dry during your stay. 

It is really convenient as well for international travelers because the power sockets in the room can fit any kind of power plug head. This is so thoughtful and I can get all my electronic devices charged without the need to take turns.

Other room types available here at ARTOTEL Sanur Bali are STUDIO 40 and STUDIO 55 where the rooms are way bigger in size, extra sofa bed, bathrobe and hip studio with bathtub too.

LIDAH LOKAL aims to celebrate Bali delicacies, hence this restaurant located on the same floor with the Reception Counter of ARTOTEL Sanur, Bali serves a good variation of traditional dishes including seafood, fusions and Indonesian food. 

It is indeed one of the best Balinese gastronomes that you need to explore while you are here in Bali. I personally enjoy my dining experience here at LIDAH LOKAL for the delicious yet mouth-watering dishes and also being able to sit down and relax in this calming dining ambience that is packed with original artworks from Bali emerging contemporary artists.

On top of those ready-made to serve menus, you can opt for an egg menu like scramble egg, omelette, etc. and it is freshly prepared on-the-spot at the live-action station. Just place your order, state your preference and they will cook it for you.

There are ready-made juices and detox drinks available on the bar, but if you want to opt for hot beverages or other drinks like iced latte, you can request and place your order. As the day is going to be long for me, of course I will go for a caffeine drink for a boost.

I also had my lunch here on the last day of my stay. Check this out on the menu that we had ordered which will definitely suit the palate of all. For the Starter, we had the Bakwan Udang, Perkedel Jagung and Batagor, the portion can be wonderfully shared.

First, the Bakwan Udang. This is one of the popular Southeast Asia street foods and snacks, especially here in Indonesia.

Perkedel Jagung is the sweet corn fritter and this menu is something new to me as I truly believe this is my first time having it.

 

These two menus are perfect for hi-tea too and it is so enjoyable when paired with the dipping sauces provided.

Batagor is a Sundanese street food from West Java that is made of fried fish dumplings and it is served with peanut sauce.

As for the main dishes, we ordered Ayam Taliwang, Iga Bakar Madu, Ikan Bakar Dabu Dabu and Tenggiri Sambal Matah, and these are the dishes that are famous from around Indonesia.

 

Lunch At LIDAH LOKAL ARTOTEL Sanur Bali

Ayam Taliwang is a grilled chicken dish that is covered with Sambal and known to be originated from Taliwang, West Nusa Tenggara.

 

This dish got its name after the Karang Taliwang in mataram the capital of Lombok and was created around the 70s. This will surely excite your taste buds as it tastes sweet and spicy at the same time, and served with side dishes of Kangkung plecing and Terong Balado.

 

LIDAH LOKAL: Ayam Taliwang 'Lombok' (Rp 60K)

 

Iga Bakar Madu is Javanese famous way of cooking the short rib. The short rib is braised and basted with honeyed chili relish while it is grilled. This create a unique taste of a perfect blend between sweet and spicy. 

 

It will be served with pickled vegetables and fried Cassava Splinters.

Ikan Bakar Dabu Dabu is grilled fish topped with Dabu Dabu, a type of condiment that is commonly found in Manadonese cuisine of North Sulawesi. The Dabu Dabu is made from the fresh salsa of chopped tomato, pepper varieties and seasoned with palm sugar and calamansi juice.

Tenggiri Sambal Matah is the sliced and fried tenggiri that pairs with Sambal Matah, the sambal that is made from lemongrass, bird eye chili, lime leaves and coconut oil.

As for the drinks, we ordered the Healthy Booster - Orca (Orange, Apple, Carrot and Honey), Anti Aging (Orange, Mint leaf, Honey and Banana) and Rejuvenate (Mango, Spinach, Passionfruit and Honey).

There is another culinary option available that is located on the rooftop of ARTOTEL Sanur Bali. BART (Bar At Rooftop) is an open-air sanctuary that mixes a lively atmosphere with music of the hottest beats for you to enjoy.

BART also serves light bites and creative drinks making it the best spot for you to chill and hang out with your family and friends at the first rooftop bar in Sanur. The operating hour starts from 11.00 A.M. until 7.00 P.M.

ARTOTEL Sanur Bali has its own Infinity Pool that is located on the 5th Floor and it is the first rooftop pool in Sanur. There are a series of sundecks available that allow you to enjoy the view.  I am amazed by the beautiful sunrise from this spot.

Perfect Spot To Enjoy Sunbathing Too

Before I forget, this hotel is located just less than 5 minutes from Pantai Sanur. Thankfully, the morning weather was just nice during my stay so that I can enjoy the beautiful sunrises. This is an iconic location and famous for tourists to visit, you don't want to miss it for sure.

You better check for the timing of the sunrise and be there half an hour before for the best shot, especially for those that like to do time-lapse.

Besides being close to the beach, it is really convenient to stay here as there are a lot of shops available just within walking distance, such as laundry, clinic, convenience stores, restaurants and many more.
